Elisabeth Gallas, Dr. phil., is a senior research associate at the Simon Dubnow Institute for Jewish History and Culture at the University of Leipzig. Between 2014 and 2016, she was Minerva Research Fellow at the Avraham Harman Institute of Contemporary Jewry at the Hebrew University Jerusalem. She studied Cultural and German Studies at the University of Leipzig and Sociology at the University of Copenhagen. In 2011 she was awarded her PhD in Contemporary History at the University of Leipzig and the Dubnow Insitute. Her dissertation was published in 2013 under the title "Das Leichenhaus der Bücher - Kulturrestitution und jüdisches Geschichtsdenken nach 1945" ("The mortuary of books - cultural restitution and Jewish historical conciousness after 1945") at Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht.
